A 42 year old man charged with stabbing a 27-year-old in the back, has been granted bail in the sum of $6,000.

Devin Soso of Port Elizabeth/United States of America is accused of the wounding with intent of Akeil Ollivierre, also of Port Elizabeth.

The matter was adjourned on multiple occasions last week for an attempt to ascertain the formal status of the victim who is said to have been hospitalized since the alleged incident on May, 31.

Soso was remanded into custody prior to the matter being called again yesterday, June 13. At this time the prosecutor indicated that he had personally attempted to secure the medical report up until that morning but it was futile.

Station Sergeant, Renrick Cato said that the victim is still hospitalized at the male medical ward but, “that’s the best I can say from where I’m standing at this point in time.”

However, Cato reminded the court of the initial medical information that was taken after the incident, namely, that there was a wound to the middle, upper back, which could not be measured due to its depth. The hypertensive patient was also observed as having respiratory distress.

Having heard the prosecution, Chief Magistrate, Rechanne Browne allowed bail with one surety. She further ordered that there is to be no contact with the virtual complainant, Ollivierre, and attached the condition that Soso must report to the police station in his district on Friday of every week that the matter is ongoing.

All travel documents are to be surrendered and stop notices are issued against him at all ports of entry and exit. If the SVG/USA resident is to leave the state he will have to seek permission from the court.

Lawyer, Grant Connell represents the accused, who will next return to court on June 30.
